Staff Correspondent

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain accompanied by gusty winds across Dhaka and 15 other regions of the country by Thursday afternoon, issuing a cautionary signal for inland river ports.

In a weather warning issued on Thursday for the country's inland river ports, the BMD said south or southeasterly winds with gusts of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour may sweep across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.

The weather office also warned of rain or thundershowers in these areas alongside the gusty winds.

Considering the prevailing conditions, the BMD has advised inland river ports in the affected regions to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1 from 5:00am to 1:00pm.

Authorities have urged residents, particularly those living in riverine and coastal areas, to remain alert and take necessary precautions to avoid weather-related accidents.
