Woman found dead in Savar; police suspect murder after rape

A 35-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Savar early Friday, with police suspecting she was raped before being strangulated to death.

The deceased was identified as Sharmin Akhter Liza, Savar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain confirmed.

Police recovered the body in the early hours from the house in the Borodeshi area of Aminbazar following information. Later, the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for an autopsy.

Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain said police were investigating the incident.

The woman might have been strangled after rape, he said, adding that they were working to arrest those involved and ascertain the motive behind the killing.
