Authorities in Teknaf have launched a coordinated security initiative to combat kidnapping, drug trafficking, human trafficking and other organized crimes, following the first-ever special law and order committee meeting involving senior officials from district and upazila-level law enforcement agencies.

The meeting, organized by the Teknaf Upazila administration, was held on Saturday morning at the Upazila Parishad conference room and chaired by Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Abdul Mannan.

Lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury, who represents the Cox's Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) constituency, attended as the chief guest.

Senior officials from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Coast Guard, Armed Police Battalion (APBN), Department of Narcotics Control, Forest Department and district administration attended the meeting.

Participants reviewed the deteriorating law and order situation in the border upazila and agreed to intensify coordinated efforts to tackle kidnapping, narcotics trafficking and human trafficking.

The meeting also decided to launch combing operations in remote hilly areas, recover illegal firearms, strengthen surveillance along the Myanmar border and take joint action to dismantle online gambling networks.

Officials said several key decisions were adopted to improve public safety and strengthen coordination among the agencies operating in Teknaf.

Following the meeting, officials said all security forces would work together to improve law and order, suppress organized crime and ensure the safety of residents in the border town.

They said sustained operations would continue against kidnappers, drug traffickers and human trafficking networks, while intelligence-sharing and joint enforcement would be strengthened to restore security in one of Bangladesh's most crime-prone border regions.
