Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq passes away

Eminent writer and researcher Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq passed away on Sunday afternoon. He was 85.

He died at around 2:30pm at the National Heart Foundation in Mirpur after falling sick at a family progrmame, said Serajul Islam (Seraj Salekeen), chairman of the Department of Bangla of Dhaka University.

He received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981.

PM mourns his death

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq.

In a message of condolence, he said the country has lost an eminent educationist and writer at the death of Huq.

His death created a vacuum in the country’s arena of education which will never be filled easily, the Prime Minister added.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to bereaved family members.
