The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has arrested an admin of a Facebook group over allegations of fraudulent online promotion of ticket sales for Pakistani singer Atif Aslam's upcoming concert.

The accused, Md Bakhtiar Abid Khan (21), was arrested on Thursday and later he has been sent to the court, said a press release.

The press release said Event Sajai and Main Stage Inc are organising a concert featuring Atif Aslam on July 24 at the Cricketers Academy in Purbachal. The organisers signed an agreement with GetMyTicket.live for ticket sales and began promoting the event on Main Stage Inc's Facebook page from July 8.

The organisers later found that a Facebook group named Bangladesh Concert & Event Connects (BCEC) was carrying advertisements and posts from various IDs using images of tickets from a previously cancelled concert to promote the sale of tickets for the upcoming event.

The organisers contacted the group's admin, Abid, over the matter. However, according to the complaint, he demanded Taka 1 lakh instead of removing the posts.

However, he threatened to continue approving such posts if the money was not paid and attempted to cause financial losses and damage the reputation of Event Sajai and Main Stage Inc.

Following the incident, concert organiser Nisha Mahbuba Salam filed a case with Paltan Police Station under Cyber Security Act in Dhaka on July 15, 2026.
