The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday raided the residence of dismissed Major General Ziaul Ahsan in the Jalsiri Housing Project in Rupganj, Narayanganj, where officials are preparing an inventory of valuables and other items found inside.

ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the development to the media.

According to the ACC, the operation was carried out by a team led by Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam at an eight-storey building in the Jalsiri Housing Project.

Officials are conducting the inventory at the third-floor apartment, where they are listing valuables and other belongings recovered during the raid. The process was still underway at the time of filing this report.

On 7 January, a court showed Ziaul arrested in a case filed by the ACC over allegations of acquiring wealth beyond his known sources of income.

According to the case statement, he amassed assets worth 22.27 crore taka beyond his known sources of income, deposited approximately 67.7 lakh taka in excess of the approved limit, and carried out unusual transactions worth around 120 crore taka through eight bank accounts.

The case further alleges that, with the assistance of his wife, Nusrat Jahan, he transferred and converted the funds through the bank accounts of various individuals and organisations.

The ACC also alleged that Ziaul abused his official position and authority, committing offences punishable under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, the Penal Code, the Money Laundering Prevention Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Ziaul was first arrested on the night of 16 August 2024 from the Khilkhet area of Dhaka. He was later shown arrested in a murder case filed with New Market Police Station over deaths during the July mass uprising and has remained in jail since.

He is facing charges of crimes against humanity over alleged enforced disappearances and killings of more than 100 people during his tenure with the RAB. Prosecutors filed formal charges in December 2025, accusing him of involvement in multiple cases of abduction, disappearance and extrajudicial killings.
