Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman on Thursday exchanged pleasantries with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Manila, the Philippines.

Jaishankar also met Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath during the regional gathering, a Foreign Ministry official said.

The meeting came a day after Khalilur held a series of bilateral talks with his counterparts from the United States, Russia, China and Pakistan, underscoring Bangladesh's efforts to deepen diplomatic engagement with key international partners.

During those meetings, the foreign minister discussed issues of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, trade and investment opportunities, as well as regional and global developments, a diplomatic source said.

Khalilur is leading the Bangladesh delegation to the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting and events marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
