Probe report in graft case against Prof Kalimullah, others on Sept 23

A court on Monday set September 23 for submitting the probe report in a graft case against five individuals, including former Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-Chancellor Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Shahjahan Kabir passed the order, as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to submit the probe report today.
 
On July 18, 2025, ACC Assistant Director Minhaz Bin-Islam filed the case alleging embezzlement of funds from the BRUR development project.

The other accused of the case are: former VC and project director of the university Prof AKM Nurunnabi, former executive engineer and a member of the tender evaluation committee Jahangir Alam and two contractors, Abdus Salam Bachhu and M M Habibur Rahman. 

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Prof Kalimullah from his Mohammadpur residence on August 7 last year. Later, he was also taken into police remand for five days in connection with the case on August 27, 2025.
