The government has appointed new vice-chancellors (VCs) and pro-vice-chancellors (pro-VCs) at 21 public universities in a fresh reshuffle of higher education leadership, according to notifications issued by the Ministry of Education.

Separate gazette notifications issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division on Monday night and Tuesday announced the appointment of three vice-chancellors and 15 pro-vice-chancellors.

The newly appointed vice-chancellors are:

• Professor Abu Sadat Sayem – Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET)

• Professor Md Zakir Hossain – Sunamganj Science and Technology University

• Professor Md Asaduzzaman – Khulna Agricultural University

The newly appointed pro-vice-chancellors are:

• Professor Md Emtaz Hossain – Islamic University, Kushtia

• Professor G M Shafiur Rahman – Kishoreganj University

• Professor Mosammat Nur Mohal Akhtar Banu – Kurigram University

• Professor Mohammad Amzad Hossain Sarkar – Comilla University

• Professor Salma Begum – Dhaka Central University

• Professor Md Tarikul Islam – Naogaon University

• Professor A B M Saiful Islam – Patuakhali Science and Technology University

• Professor Md Anisur Rahman – Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University

• Professor Md Ataur Rahman – Meherpur University

• Professor Md Abdus Sobahan – Rabindra University

• Professor Md Shafiqul Islam – Rangamati Science and Technology University

• Professor Md Akhtar Hossain – Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET)

• Professor Md Jahangir Sarker – Sunamganj Science and Technology University

• Professor Mohammad Ismail Hossain – Habiganj Agricultural University

• Professor Md Nausher – Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University

According to the notifications, the newly appointed vice-chancellors and pro-vice-chancellors will serve four-year terms, with their appointments taking effect in accordance with the respective university laws and applicable regulations.

The latest appointments come a day after the government named new vice-chancellors for Netrokona University, Habiganj Agricultural University and Kishoreganj University, continuing a broader overhaul of leadership at public universities.
