The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday began preparing an inventory of movable assets at another apartment owned by former army officer Major General (dismissed) Ziaul Ahsan in Mirpur DOHS, following a court order.

The inventory process started in the morning, ACC Deputy Director Md Akhtarul Islam told Daily Waadaa.

He said a team led by ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam, accompanied by an executive magistrate, is conducting the operation at the apartment.

Earlier, on July 20, the ACC carried out a similar inventory at Ziaul Ahsan's duplex apartment in the Jalsiri Housing Project in Narayanganj.

According to the commission, the duplex contained various movable assets, including household appliances, furniture, electronic devices, jewellery, decorative items and other valuables.

On January 27, a court appointed the deputy commissioners of the relevant districts and the Public Works Department as receivers to oversee, manage and maintain the attached immovable properties belonging to Ziaul Ahsan and persons linked to his interests.

Earlier, on April 24 last year, the court ordered the attachment of land, houses and apartments worth 180 crore taka owned by the former director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC). The court also ordered the freezing of nine bank accounts in his name.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order following a petition filed by the ACC.

The anti-graft watchdog filed a case against Ziaul on January 23, 2025, accusing him of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income and laundering money.

Following the fall of the Awami League government, Ziaul was dismissed from service. He was arrested from the capital's Khilkhet area on August 15, 2024, and is currently in jail.
