BSS

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Friday said the government's implementation of the Law Reform Commission's recommendations would be guided by the July Charter.

He made the remarks after inaugurating a tree plantation programme and a month-long tree fair at the old Deputy Commissioner's Court premises in Jhenaidah.

The minister said the interim government had promulgated 133 ordinances based on the commission's recommendations.

He said most of the proposed reforms have already been accepted, while a special committee has been formed to review and amend the remaining recommendations.

Responding to a question about former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's possible return to the country, Asaduzzaman said the government will take all necessary legal measures if she returned.

"She will face the court, and the government will act in accordance with the law," he said.

Commenting on the Habiganj attack case involving leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP), the minister said the incident would be investigated impartially and legal action would be taken against those found responsible.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, Political Assistant to the Prime Minister Rashed Khan, Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Noman Hossain, Zila Parishad Administrator MA Majid and others were present at the programme.
