DU lays foundation stone for ‘July Memorial Monument’

The University of Dhaka on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the ‘July Memorial Monument’ as part of an initiative to preserve the memory of the July Uprising.

The event took place at 10:30 a.m. at Mall Chattar, adjacent to the university's Administrative Building.

The foundation stone was laid by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. A.B.M. Obaidul Islam who was the chief guest at the event.

Among those present were Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, family members of those killed during the July Uprising, Proctor of the university, deans of various faculties, department chairpersons, faculty members, and other university officials.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor met with family members of those killed during the July Uprising at his office, where he exchanged greetings with them and inquired about their well-being.
