Presidential election on Aug 20

The presidential election will be held on August 20, the Election Commission (EC) said on Thursday.

The polling will be held between 2-5pm. 

The EC announced the date under Section 5(3) of the Presidential Election Act, 1991, in consultation with the Speaker.

The date for submitting nomination papers to the Returning Officer has been set at August 13.

The nomination papers will be submitted at the office chamber of the Chief Election Commissioner, that is, the Returning Officer.

Papers will be scrutnised on 16 August and the last date to withdraw candidature has been set at 18 August.
