Members of the family of former Navy Chief Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan on Thursday paid floral tributes at his grave and offered prayers on the occasion of his 42nd death anniversary.

His daughters Shahina Khan Zaman and Dr Zubaida Rahman, along with his granddaughter Zaima Rahman, visited his grave at the Banani Military Graveyard in the morning where they laid wreaths on behalf of the family and offered Fateha and special prayers.

Zubaida and Zaima spent some time in silent prayer at the grave after reciting Fateha.

A Quran Khatam and doa mahfil were also held at the military graveyard.

Another doa mahfil is scheduled to be held after Maghrib prayers at the family's Dhanmondi residence, Mahbub Bhaban.

Mahbub, father-in-law of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is being remembered through various programmes at home and abroad, including grave visits, milad mahfils, doa gatherings and discussion meetings, according to a family press release.

Mahbub became Chief of the Bangladesh Navy in 1979 and later served as Minister for Communications and Agriculture in the government of late President Ziaur Rahman. He died on August 6, 1984.

He is survived by his wife Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, and two daughters-Shahina and Zubaida.
