A court in Dhaka on Wednesday rejected a bail plea filed by actor Ashraful Haque Don in a case lodged over the murder of popular film star Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after holding a hearing on the bail petition.
Immigration police arrested Don at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the early hours of August 9 and later handed him over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The court sent him to jail later that day.
Salman Shah’s maternal uncle, Mohammad Alamgir, popularly known as Alamgir Kumkum, filed the case against 11 people, including Salman’s wife Samira Haque, with Ramna Police Station on October 21, 2025, under Sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code.
The other accused are Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Samira’s mother Latifa Haque Lusi, Don, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad.
Earlier, on October 20, 2025, Dhaka’s Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque ordered the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station to treat the case filed over the death of Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar, popularly known as Salman Shah, as a murder case and submit a report in this regard.
