The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has once again raised gold prices in the local market, increasing the rate of 22-carat gold by 1,633 taka per bhori to 2,36,779 taka, including VAT.
Bajus announced the new price in a notice on Thursday, saying the revised rate came into effect from 10am the same day.
The association said the adjustment was made in response to the recent rise in the price of pure gold in the local market, prompting a reassessment of VAT-inclusive gold prices.
Under the new rates, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 21-carat gold will cost 2,26,165 taka, while 18-carat gold has been set at 1,94,206 taka per bhori. The price of traditional gold has been fixed at 1,58,630 taka per bhori.
Bajus said the new prices will remain effective at jewellery shops across the country until further notice, although making charges will continue to apply depending on jewellery design.
As VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, it cannot be collected separately from customers.
The association also said its existing rules on VAT, making charges and stone deductions will remain unchanged for ornament exchanges and purchases.
This marks the second gold price adjustment within a week. Bajus last revised gold prices on August 11, when the rate of 22-carat gold increased by 1,108 taka to 2,35,146 taka per bhori.
According to Bajus data, gold prices have been adjusted 102 times in Bangladesh so far in 2026, with 51 upward revisions, 50 downward revisions and one VAT-related adjustment.
Meanwhile, silver prices remained unchanged. A bhori of high-quality 22-carat silver is currently priced at 5,073 taka, while 21-carat silver stands at 4,840 taka per bhori.
