A Dhaka court deferred until September 1 the hearing on charge framing in a case filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others over the alleged murder of truck driver Hossain during the July Uprising.

Thursday was fixed for holding a hearing on the matter, but the prison authorities failed to produce a couple of accused from jail before the court for the hearing.

Allowing a time plea filed by the prosecution, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 set the new date for the hearing.

According to the case documents, Md Hossain was shot in the Mohammadpur Chand Udyan area on July 19, 2024, as he was returning home after leaving his truck in the Gabtoli area. He succumbed to his injuries.

Hossain's mother, Rina Begum, filed the case on August 31, 2024, with the Mohammadpur Police Station. Police on November 23, 2025, filed a charge sheet against 34, including Sheikh Hasina, and former ministers Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
