Qatar lauds Bangladeshi workers’ contribution, vows stronger labour ties

Qatar has praised the contribution of Bangladeshi workers to its economy and development as Bangladesh and Qatar discussed strengthening bilateral ties and expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshi nationals during Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman’s official visit to Doha.

Rahman held separate meetings with Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi and Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri.

During his meeting with Al Khulaifi, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

In his meeting with Al Marri, discussions focused on labour cooperation, workers’ welfare and protection, and expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers, particularly skilled and semi-skilled workers.

The Qatari labour minister commended the valuable contribution of Bangladeshi workers to Qatar’s economy and development.

Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the labour and manpower sectors, according to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
