Six new ministers and state ministers sworn in

Four new faces joined Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Cabinet as ministers on Friday, while two others were sworn in as state ministers. 

Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administered their oaths at 7:45pm at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani. 

BNP Standing Committee member and Narsingdi-2 MP Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and Bhola-1 MP Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Bandarban MP Saching Prue Jerry, and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat were sworn in as ministers. 

Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and Gaibandha-4 MP Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln took oath as state ministers.  

The appointments expand Tarique’s Cabinet six months after his government was formed, bringing six new members into the Council of Ministers. 

The ministries to be assigned to the newly appointed ministers and state ministers have yet to be decided.
