One remanded over 2015 attack on Khaleda Zia's motorcade

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Tejgaon ward Shramik League leader Kashem on a five-day remand in a case lodged over an attack on the motorcade of then BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the capital in 2015.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order as police produced Kashem before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.

According to the case details, Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia went to Kawran Bazar area in the capital on April 20, 2015, for taking part in election campaign for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayoral candidate Tabith Awal. A group of hooligans attacked her motorcade as it reached Bangla Motor Signal at around 5.30 pm.

The case was filed on August 22, 2024, with Tejgaon Police Station.
