BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s adviser Mirza Abbas is set to return home on September 2 after undergoing treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for several months.

According to a post on his official Facebook page, Abbas has recovered and is preparing to return to Bangladesh following months of medical treatment abroad.

Confirming the matter on Sunday, BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said Abbas is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 9:00pm on September 2 on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, reports UNB.

Abbas fell ill suddenly on March 11 and was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where he underwent brain surgery.

He was later taken to Singapore for advanced treatment and subsequently to Malaysia for specialised treatment and rehabilitation.

The Facebook post said Abbas’ condition had improved following the advice of a medical board and continued efforts by his doctors.

His family, well-wishers and political colleagues have expressed relief over his recovery and upcoming return to the country.
