US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has said Bangladesh has committed billions of dollars to purchase additional Boeing aircraft from the United States under a new deal between Dhaka and Washington.

The US envoy also praised President Donald Trump for his economic policies, calling him the “Greatest JOBS President in American History”.

“Just this week, President Trump and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh (Tarique Rahman) made another incredible deal, with Bangladesh committing to spend billions of dollars to buy more Boeing aircraft, significantly increasing their initial order,” Gor said in a post on X on Sunday night.

Gor said Trump works tirelessly every day to create millions of high-paying jobs, drive trillions of dollars in investment and reinvigorate the US economy.

“Our President is Making America, and our partners, Great Again!” the US Special Envoy said.

In April, Bangladesh signed a deal with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing to purchase 14 planes for its national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The deal, valued at $3.7 billion, was described as the airline's biggest-ever aircraft order.

Gor visited Bangladesh from July 30 to August 1 and held meetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman to discuss the political and economic dynamics shaping Bangladesh-US relations.

He also visited Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar during his visit.

The US Embassy in Dhaka said the visit highlighted the breadth and depth of the US-Bangladesh relationship.
