A court on Tuesday deferred until September 24 the hearing on charge framing in a case filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others over the alleged murder of truck driver Hossain during the 2024 July Uprising.
The hearing was deferred as the prison authorities failed to produce one of the accused, former minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, before the court from jail.
Allowing a time plea filed by the prosecution, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 set the new date for the hearing.
According to the case documents, Md Hossain was shot in the Mohammadpur Chand Udyan area on July 19, 2024, as he was returning home after leaving his truck in the Gabtoli area. He succumbed to his injuries.
Hossain's mother, Rina Begum, filed the case on August 31, 2024, with the Mohammadpur Police Station. Police on November 23, 2025, filed a charge sheet against 34, including Hasina, former ministers Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
