Police recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy, who went missing on Friday, from a jungle in the Kotbari area of Cumilla district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Oprotim, a Class VII student of Border Guard Public School and the only son of KM Firoz Shahriar and Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Department of Bangla at Comilla University.
Mohammad Rakibul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cumilla Sadar South Police Station, confirmed the matter to Daily Waadaa, saying, “the body of Oprotim has been found in an area adjacent to the university.”
Police said Oprotim had been missing since he left his house in the Kotbari area under Sadar Dakshin thana at around 3:30pm on Friday.
His father filed a general diary with Sadar Dakshin Police Station on Friday night.
After reviewing CCTV footage from areas around his last known location and Comilla University, police recovered Oprotim’s body from a forest in the Kotbaria area, said Rakibul.
“The boy had severe injury marks on his head. We are investigating the incident,” he said.
