Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has left New York for Bangladesh after concluding his visit to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

An Emirates Airlines flight carrying Tarique and his entourage departed John F Kennedy International Airport at 11:35 pm New York time.

Tarique arrived in New York on September 21 for his first UN General Assembly session since becoming prime minister.

During the visit, he addressed the General Debate on behalf of Bangladesh, outlining the country's positions on key domestic and international issues.

He also attended high-level meetings and events focusing on climate change and sea-level rise, the Rohingya crisis, and maternal and newborn healthcare.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Tarique met several heads of state and government as well as senior officials of international organisations.

The meetings covered Bangladesh's bilateral relations, trade and investment, development cooperation, climate change, the Rohingya crisis and other issues of mutual interest.
