Former Serbian president Boris Tadić met senior leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) at the party’s office in Dhaka on Saturday, with discussions focusing on parliamentary engagement, democratic governance and international relations.

Tadić, who served as Serbia’s president from 2004 to 2012, met NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam and party spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan. Serbia’s official presidential records confirm Tadić served two terms, after being elected in 2004 and again in 2008.

Alex Wang, secretary general of the China-Bangladesh Partnership Platform, also attended the meeting.

According to the NCP, the two sides exchanged experiences and perspectives on parliamentary politics and democratic governance and discussed international relations.

The meeting also touched on the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation, though the party did not announce any specific agreement or initiative arising from the talks.

NCP Joint Member Secretary Alauddin Mohammad, who is also a member of the party’s Sub-Committee on Diaspora and International Affairs, and Joint Chief Coordinator Abdullah Al Faisal were present.

Nahid currently serves as the NCP’s convener and opposition chief whip, while Asif is the party spokesperson. Recent public records also identify Nahid as an NCP lawmaker in the 13th parliament.
