Three special lorries carrying uranium for the second unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant are heading to the plant in Pabna under tight security provided by the Bangladesh Army.
The lorries crossed the Bonpara bypass in Baraigram upazila at around 11:45am on Saturday.
Police and intelligence agency personnel have been deployed at key points along the highway as the uranium-laden vehicles make their way to the site. The convoy left for Rooppur at around 7am.
Earlier, a special cargo flight carrying the uranium from Russia arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 11:45pm on Friday.
