The National Citizen Party (NCP) on Tuesday dismissed reports of a proposed “Super Six” forum within the party.
A report published by a Bangla daily on the same day said the NCP was planning to restructure some of its committees, adding that the 11 top leaders, collectively known as the “Super Eleven”, would become a “Super Six”.
The six leaders are Nasiruddin Patwari, the party’s chief coordinator; Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser for the southern region; Sarjis Alam, chief organiser for the northern region; Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, spokesperson; alongside Nahid Islam, convener; and Akhter Hossain, member secretary.
In a statement signed by Sarwar Tushar, a member of the NCP’s Political Council and head of its Subcommittee on Media, Publicity and Branding, the party said its highest policymaking body was the Political Council, which had 16 members.
All of them are leaders at the party’s policymaking level.
“All concerned are urged to avoid spreading or falling prey to misinformation. The media are also urged to publish news responsibly,” the statement added.
It listed the Political Council members as Nahid Islam, Akhter Hossain, Nasiruddin Patwari, Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Asif Mahmud, Abdullah Al Amin, Arif Adib, Atik Mujahid, Hannan Masud, Ali Ahsan Junayed, Sarwar Tushar, Akram Hossain, Saleh Uddin Sifat, Mahmuda Mitu and Nusrat Tabassum.
