Dr Shahadat Hossain has been appointed full-time administrator of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).

The City Corporation-1 branch of the Local Government Division issued a notification today, stating that the appointment was made under Section 4 of the Local Government (City Corporation Amendment Act, 2026).

According to the notification, Dr Hossain will remain in the post until the City Corporation is formally constituted or until further orders are issued.

As administrator, he will exercise the powers and perform the duties of the mayor. He will receive a monthly honorarium and other allowances in accordance with the prescribed rules.

Dr. Hossain contested the Mayor's post in the CCC election held on January 27, 2021, and later filed a case in court challenging the result. Following the July mass uprising, the court declared him the winner of that election on October 1, 2024. On October 8, 2024, the Election Commission (EC) issued a notification declaring him Mayor of the CCC.
