The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has recommended purchasing one additional cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from QatarEnergy Trading LLC at a price of JKM minus US$0.10 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).

The additional cargo is scheduled for delivery on December 23, 2026, under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement within the existing long-term LNG supply agreement.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division placed the proposal, seeking to purchase the additional cargo at a price different from the rate stipulated in the existing contract. The committee recommended the proposal for approval at its meeting, with QatarEnergy Trading LLC named as the recommended supplier.

The JKM (Japan-Korea Marker) is a benchmark price for spot LNG in Asia. Under the proposed pricing formula, Bangladesh will pay US$0.10 per MMBtu below the JKM benchmark.
