In a gesture of political goodwill, newly elected BNP lawmaker Mirza Faisal Amin today visited his defeated rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Delawar Hosen, at his residence, presenting him with a bouquet of flowers following his victory in the Thakurgaon-1 by-election.

The visit took place this afternoon, a day after the election. The two leaders exchanged greetings and shared sweets, creating a cordial atmosphere in the aftermath of the electoral contest.

During the meeting, Faisal Amin expressed his expectation that Delawar Hosen and his party would play the role of a "shadow government" by offering constructive criticism and pointing out any shortcomings in governance.

He said development activities in the constituency should be carried out without political discrimination, ensuring the participation of people from all political backgrounds.

Referring to the significant number of votes secured by Delawar Hosen, Faisal Amin said their supporters should also benefit from government development initiatives.

"They are also our people. We cannot undertake development activities while excluding such a large section of the population," he said.

The newly elected MP said he wanted to work collectively to fulfil the commitments made to voters during the election campaign. With the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he hoped to involve the opposition in building a better Bangladesh and developing Thakurgaon.

Delawar Hosen congratulated Faisal Amin on his victory and assured him of cooperation in development and public welfare activities. He also praised the visit, describing it as an exceptional gesture of goodwill and political harmony.

The meeting reflected a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation between political rivals following the by-election.
