BSRM Group, Bangladesh’s leading steelmaker, posted a combined net profit of 1,418 crore taka in FY26, up 25.31% year-on-year, as higher sales volumes, strong brand recognition and investments in modern manufacturing technology supported earnings despite sluggish economic growth.

According to separate Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) filings on Thursday, the group’s two listed companies recorded double-digit profit growth in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026.

Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited (BSRMLTD), the group’s oldest business unit, established in 1960, reported a 14.44% increase in net profit to 703 crore taka. Its sister concern, BSRM Steels Limited, established in 2002, posted a 38.20% rise to 715 crore taka.

Together, the companies earned 1,418 crore taka in net profit during the fiscal year.

BSRM Group supplies nearly 25% of Bangladesh’s total steel demand, making it the country’s market leader in the sector.

S M Nurul Karim, chief financial officer of BSRM Steels, told Daily Waadaa that demand from major infrastructure projects and investments in advanced manufacturing technology had helped boost sales and improve cost efficiency.

The infographic shows BSRM Group’s profit growth, earnings per share, recommended cash dividends and operating cash flow per share for FY26.

“Every major project prefers BSRM products, which helps us achieve higher sales volumes. Besides, we have invested in new technology at our latest factory, which is helping us improve cost efficiency by reducing carrying and other operating costs,” he said.

BSRMLTD reported earnings per share (EPS) of 23.54 taka in FY26, up from 20.57 taka a year earlier.

Its board recommended a 55% cash dividend for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026. At Thursday’s closing price of 89.30 taka per share on the DSE, the proposed dividend would amount to 5.50 taka per share for eligible shareholders.

The company set November 15, 2026, as the record date, while its annual general meeting (AGM) is scheduled for December 17.

Despite the increase in profit, the company’s net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) fell by more than 86% to 6.49 taka in FY26.

The company attributed the decline to the settlement of short-term debt as part of efforts to reduce its debt burden. It cited revenue growth, cost optimisation and improved operational efficiency as the main factors behind the increases in net profit and EPS.

BSRM Steels reported EPS of 19.03 taka in FY26, compared with 13.77 taka in the previous fiscal year.

Its board recommended a 60% cash dividend for FY26. Based on Thursday’s closing share price of 96.60 taka on the DSE, the proposed dividend would amount to 6 taka per share for eligible shareholders.

The company also set November 15 as the record date and December 17 as the date for its AGM.

However, its NOCFPS declined to 24.46 taka in FY26 from 45.02 taka a year earlier, despite the sharp increase in net profit.

The contrasting movements in earnings and operating cash flow at the two companies indicate that their financial performance should be assessed not only through profit growth but also through their ability to generate cash from operations.
