Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud has been shortlisted for the ICC Player of the Month award for August, ICC revealed in a statement on Thursday.
Hasan played a starring role in Bangladesh’s first-ever Test win against Australia in Australian soil in Darwin with match figures of 9-111.
“The pace bowler was outstanding in Darwin, taking 6-55 in the first innings and following it up with 3-56 in the second to spearhead Bangladesh's victory push and seal a landmark result for his side,” read the ICC statement.
“His performance in Darwin will go down as one of the defining bowling displays behind Bangladesh's breakthrough win in Australia,” it further read.
Alongside the 26-year-old, Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha – who struck three centuries in four innings in the two-Test home series against India, and England’s Ollie Robinson – who took 16 wickets across the two Tests at home against Pakistan – have been shortlisted for the prize.
