Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud Sujon has expressed his willingness to work with the national cricket team once again if the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) considers him suitable for any post.

Mahmud, who was previously part of the national team’s support staff, said he would accept the responsibility if the board makes an offer.

"Coaching is my bread and butter. If the board thinks I am capable and offers me the responsibility, I will definitely take it," Mahmud told the reporters in Mirpur on Sunday.

The former all-rounder is currently focused on his role as BCB's game development consultant. 

He said he is grateful to the board for trusting him with the position and hopes to contribute to the development of Bangladesh cricket.

"The president has given me the responsibility of game development consultant. He may have felt that I can contribute in this area. I thank him for considering me worthy. I will try to contribute as much as possible," he added.

Mahmud also dismissed speculation about a strained relationship with High Performance Unit’s coach Mohammad Salahuddin, saying their relationship has remained positive over the years.

"That is what people say, but Salahuddin and I do not think that way. We have known each other since childhood. We played together and later came into coaching. I have always had a good relationship with him," he said.

Praising Salahuddin's development as a coach, Mahmud said, "He has matured himself a lot as a coach and is working at a very high level. I don't think there has ever been any problem between us."

"Sometimes his team became champion, sometimes mine did. The relationship should not become bad because of that. Rather, I am happy when he does well," he remarked.
