Pakistan drop Agha as T20 captain, name Farhan to lead against Sri Lanka

Sports Desk

Pakistan have sacked Salman Ali Agha as T20 captain and left him out of the squad for this month's series against Sri Lanka, the country's cricket board said on Monday.

Sahibzada Farhan takes over the T20 captaincy. The board named squads for the T20 series and an ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England.

Farhan led Pakistan to a silver medal at the Asian Games. He also finished as the leading run-scorer at the T20 World Cup in March, with 383 runs at a strike rate of 160.

Agha remains in the ODI setup, where Shaheen Shah Afridi keeps the captaincy for the tri-series. Former captain Babar Azam has also been included in the ODI squad.

Pakistan's three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka starts on Friday in Rawalpindi. The ODI tri-series begins on October 18, with Pakistan facing Sri Lanka in the opener.
