Amite replaces Mominul for Sylhet Test

Sports Desk

Middle-order batter Amite Hasan has been included in the 15-member squad for Bangladesh’s second and final Test against West Indies in Sylhet, replacing Mominul Haque, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Saturday.

“Right-hander Amite Hasan has replaced Mominul Haque who is unavailable for the second Test due to the concussion rule that states that a player diagnosed with a concussion must observe a mandatory minimum of seven calendar days away from play before returning to the field,” the BCB statement read.

Earlier, Mominul had suffered a concussion while fielding on Day 3 of the Mirpur Test, and was replaced by Jaker Ali.

Amite, a prolific run-getter in domestic cricket, made his Test debut in June this year against Zimbabwe, but was left out of the squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan and the first Test against West Indies.

Bangladesh go to Sylhet trailing the series after the visitors won the opening Test by eight wickets to take a 1-0 lead.
