A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted another three days of remand for Jerika Tasnim Disha in the murder case of former Bangladesh Air Force officer Tahsif Sauri, as investigators examine possible disputes between the two before his death.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam passed the order after police sought seven days of further interrogation.
Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the development to Daily Waadaa.
Disha was produced before the court after completing an initial four-day remand.
Investigating officer Firoz Uddin, an inspector at the Tongi River Police Outpost, told the court that Disha had disclosed significant information during questioning but avoided answering several questions.
According to the remand petition, Disha told investigators that she and Tahsif visited Nest Bar and Restaurant in Uttara on October 27, ate snacks and travelled to several locations on a motorcycle.
Police said some of her statements were being verified and could not be disclosed at this stage.
Investigators cited seven reasons for seeking further remand, focusing on the pair's relationship, movements and communications before Tahsif's death.
Police want to establish whether Disha and Tahsif had an argument or emotionally charged conversation at CP Five Star Fast Food in Uttara's Sector 18.
They are also examining whether the two quarrelled at Nest Bar and Restaurant or had experienced tensions in their relationship before the incident.
Investigators are reviewing mobile phone records to clarify repeated communications between them.
Police also intend to cross-check Disha's statements against those of another suspect, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip.
Another line of inquiry concerns why Tahsif's motorcycle was taken to a garage.
The investigating officer claimed preliminary evidence suggested Disha's involvement and argued that further questioning was necessary to establish the circumstances of the suspected killing.
The allegations have not been established in court.
Tahsif left his home on the evening of October 27 after receiving a call from his younger friend Dip, according to the case details.
River police recovered his body the following afternoon from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat in Uttarkhan.
His father, KM Enayetul Karim, filed a murder case against unidentified individuals with Uttarkhan Police Station on October 30.
Police arrested Disha in Kafrul on October 31. Dip had been detained earlier.
Investigators have questioned the two separately and face-to-face during remand.
Both suspects have been placed on a second round of remand as police continue investigating the death.
