Bangladesh received $2.524 billion in remittances during the first 27 days of July, the first month of the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.
The inflow was 20.2 percent higher than the $2.10 billion received during the corresponding period of the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Central bank data showed that Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $87 million through formal banking channels on July 27 alone.
The strong remittance inflow at the start of the new fiscal year is expected to strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves and support macroeconomic stability.
Bangladesh received a record $35.56 billion in remittances in the 2025-26 fiscal year, the highest annual inflow in the country's history.
The figure marked a 17.3 percent increase from the $30.33 billion received in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
