All exam centres under CCTV; action against misinformation, Education Minister says

Staff Correspondent

CCTV cameras have been installed at all examination centres across the country, and a monitoring cell has been established at the Ministry of Education for the HSC and equivalent examinations starting tomorrow, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said on Wednesday.

He said examinations at centres in any part of Bangladesh can be monitored through the cell.

Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat, he further said strict action would be taken if any misleading information regarding the examinations was spread on social media.

On the new curriculum, he said it was not possible to introduce it from 2027 due to the short timeframe, but a committee had been formed to formulate the curriculum for introduction in 2028.

The Education Minister also said the ministry was considering coordinating university admission examinations in a way that would prevent any session backlog.

Responding to a question regarding allegations that teachers were having students evaluate public examination answer scripts, the minister said: "We did not have much statistical information on this matter. This time the number of examiners has been increased. We will examine these issues. We have reduced the number of answer scripts. We will examine how they are evaluating the scripts."

Regarding question paper leaks and the evaluation process, he said: "We have examined everything, including how much can be controlled. We are making the law stricter. We have prepared three sets of question papers. There are provisions for action if anything happens, including question paper leaks."

Speaking about the goals and objectives of the curriculum at the event, the Prime Minister's Adviser on Education and Primary and Mass Education, Mahdi Amin, said: "Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, we are changing our curriculum in such a way that, alongside book-based education, culture and sports will be given importance. We want to bring co-curricular activities into education."

The total number of examinees across all boards in 2026 is 1,270,583.

The total number of examination centres is 2,697, while the number of participating institutions is 9,439.
