The Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) has marked the 41st anniversary of its founding with a discussion and cultural evening at the Dhaka University TSC cafeteria.

University administration representatives, current and former members of the association, and journalists attended the event on Saturday.

Speakers discussed objective journalism, the institutional structure of the media, journalists’ professional safety and responsibilities, and the importance of campus journalism.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, DUJA founding president S M Haroon-or-Rashid, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary and former DUJA general secretary Saleh Shibly, and former DUJA president and current Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nurul Karim Bhuiyan attended the event as guests.

Founded in 1985, DUJA has for four decades covered Dhaka University’s academic activities, research, administration, student issues and campus events for the media.
