The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards honoured the best television shows and performances from the 2025-26 season in Los Angeles on Monday, with Noah Wyle, Rhea Seehorn and Jean Smart among the winners.
HBO Max’s The Pitt received the most nominations this year with 25 nods, while Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay followed with 19 nominations. Before the main ceremony, Widow’s Bay had already won eight Emmys, DTF St. Louis had six and The Pitt had four.
Rob Reiner also received a posthumous Emmy for his guest role in Season 4 of The Bear.
The ceremony took place at 5pm PT at the Peacock Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. Earlier in the month, two other ceremonies, previously known as the Creative Arts Emmys, recognised technical and artistic achievements along with several performance categories.
Mariska Hargitay, best known for playing Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, hosted the Emmys for the first time.
