Taylor Swift’s surprise release of Patient Zero on Friday has set a new Spotify record, with the song becoming the platform’s most-streamed track by a female artist in a single day in 2026 so far.

Released as part of The Life of a Showgirl: Encore, Patient Zero was one of four songs Swift released on Friday. Spotify also reported that Swift became the most-streamed female artist on the platform in a single day this year.

The four new songs occupied the top four positions on Spotify’s Top 50 Global list as of Saturday morning. Patient Zero had recorded 13,709,109 streams, followed by Cleveland with 9,620,630, Pink Clouding with 8,785,117 and “Babylon” with 8,419,108.

The songs are expected to receive further streams when Swift premieres the full music video for Patient Zero during Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards. The ceremony will air on CBS and MTV and stream on Paramount+ Premium in the US.

A teaser for the music video was released on Thursday. Actors Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson appear in the clip, although further details about the video remain undisclosed.

Swift’s latest release has also fuelled speculation among fans over possible hidden messages. Theories intensified after her appearance in an Law & Order: SVU-themed skit during a recent Emmy telecast with Mariska Hargitay, where she said the words, “Saccharide. Aries. From the vineyard. North or south.”

The full music video is set to premiere on Sunday.
