Lindsay Lohan is reuniting with Mean Girls and Freaky Friday director Mark Waters for Netflix film Return to You, which will also star Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding.

Set in 2008, Return to You follows Lohan as a “powerful but lonely attorney” who mistakenly receives an emotional DVD from a dying woman addressed to her husband.

Using only the clues on the disc, the character sets out to find the woman’s husband.

Waters previously directed Lohan in the 2004 comedy Mean Girls and the 2003 Disney film Freaky Friday. He did not return to direct the 2025 sequel Freakier Friday, which was helmed by Nisha Ganatra.

Lohan will also produce Return to You, marking her fourth collaboration with Netflix in recent years. The project comes amid the actress’s career resurgence following films including Falling for Christmas, Irish Wish and Our Little Secret, released between 2022 and 2024.

Lohan also reunited with Mean Girls co-star Tim Meadows in Our Little Secret, which she produced for Netflix.

Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the Freaky Friday franchise for Freakier Friday, while Waters was absent from the sequel.

In a 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lohan credited “manifestation” for her career resurgence.

“I had this thing in my head during COVID, I was like, ‘I want to work with Netflix and do a couple movies, but I want to work with Disney again, too,’” Lohan said.

“It came to fruition because I believed it. Those things are meant to happen. I love my life, and I’m grateful for these moments I have,” she added.

Lohan is also set to lead the Hulu thriller series Count My Lies and is working on a biopic about Hollywood actress, singer and dancer Ann-Margret.

“We’re working on the story. It’s exciting,” Lohan said of the biopic during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in November 2024. She described the project as “pretty intense” and said she wanted it to be special.

A release date for Return to You has not yet been announced.
