Rock N Rhythm 5.0 descends into chaos as crowds break through security barriers

Thousands of people reportedly forced their way into a concert headlined by rock singer Mahfuz Anam James and his band Nagar Baul at Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka on Friday, 23 October, triggering chaos and complaints from ticket-holders over security and crowd management.

The incident occurred at the Rock N Rhythm 5.0: No Limits in the Zone concert shortly before James was due to take the stage, as crowds broke through security barriers and entered the venue without tickets.

The resulting overcrowding left ticket-holders struggling to enjoy the event. Organisers eventually opened the main gates as the situation became difficult to control, further angering those who had paid to attend.

Videos shared on social media showed people chanting “fake, fake” amid the disorder. In one video, an attendee criticised the event’s management, saying many people had entered without tickets.

Another video appeared to show security personnel restraining and beating an audience member.

Police were deployed to manage the situation and disperse crowds gathered near the concert entrances.

The incident has raised questions about the event’s security arrangements, ticketing procedures and crowd control, as videos of the disorder circulated online and drew criticism of the organisers.
