Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana has crossed Rs 10 crore in advance bookings in India, nearly two weeks before its scheduled release on 5 November. However, the total includes tickets blocked by cinemas, with the value of tickets actually purchased by audiences standing at around Rs 8 crore, according to industry tracking website Sacnilk.
According to India Today, citing Sacnilk, the film’s advance booking value stood at Rs 10.15 crore as of 3pm Indian time on 24 October. Excluding blocked seats, the figure fell to Rs 7.98 crore, meaning the full amount cannot be counted as revenue from tickets sold to audiences.
The Hindi version accounts for the largest share of advance bookings for the film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Maharashtra leads the state-wise figures, followed by Delhi and Karnataka. Among cities, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru have recorded notable interest.
Ticket prices for premium screenings have also drawn attention. At PVR ICON at Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai, tickets for premium IMAX seats have reportedly reached Rs 3,170. Prices vary depending on the city, cinema, seat and screening format.
Advance ticket sales have also begun in international markets. According to Sacnilk, overseas advance sales, including those in North America and other major markets, have exceeded $1.1 million.
However, the figure covers screenings across multiple days and cannot be directly compared with advance bookings for the film’s opening day in India.
While discussion continues over the film’s potential opening-day earnings, advance booking figures alone cannot establish its eventual box-office performance. The number of screenings made available before release and the pace of ticket sales in the final days will also influence its opening.
Reports have also emerged of paid preview screenings on 4 November. Sacnilk, however, reported that the filmmakers had not confirmed these screenings and bookings had not yet opened at the time.
In Ramayana, Kapoor plays Ram, Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman and Yash appears as Ravana. Sunny Deol is set to portray Hanuman.
The film’s first part is scheduled for release in India on 5 November, timed for the Diwali period. Alongside Hindi, it is planned for release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with screenings in IMAX and other premium formats.
