Shah Rukh Khan marked his 61st birthday on November 2 with the release of Tu Mil Jaaye, the first song from his upcoming film King. The track features Arijit Singh, British musician Ed Sheeran and Madhubanti Bagchi, and was unveiled by the makers at midnight.
Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the romantic number brings Khan and Deepika Padukone together on screen again. The pair previously appeared together in 2023’s Jawan.
The music video opens with an intense dialogue from Khan’s character that loosely translates to: “I am not a murderer, I am a lover, and my target is my beloved, and what kind of lover is he who does not tear the heart.”
It then moves into an upbeat dance sequence featuring Khan and Padukone, with scenes ranging from romantic moments by the beach to grand visuals and glimpses of action.
The video had crossed two million views on YouTube at the time of publication, with fans sharing their reactions to the song and the on-screen pairing.
Kumaar has written the lyrics, while Sheeran penned the English rap. Choreography is by Piyush-Shazia.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and Abhay Verma, among others.
The film reunites Khan with Anand, who previously directed him in Pathaan, and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24.
