Ahead of their semifinal clash against England on Thursday, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni expressed his amazement at Bangladesh’s immense support for the Albiceleste, and sent a message of gratitude.

“The people of Bangladesh amaze us every single time. A country so far from Argentina — yet your genuine love is truly extraordinary,” he said in the pre-match press conference in response to a question from Bangladeshi sports journalist Rana Abbas.

“Seeing people wearing the Argentina jersey in your country gives us a unique feeling. Our heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Thank you, thank you so much,” he added.

Scaloni had earlier acknowledged the Bangladeshi Argentina supporters during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as well, where Argentina won their third World Cup.

During the 2026 World Cup, Argentina’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez had also sent a special message to Bangladeshi fans.

“I love the fans, I’ve been there. I really love the country. I know how crazy they are for us. I had the experience to be there. I love their support. They’re Argentinians in some way. All my love to Bangladesh,” Martinez had said.
