Lionel Messi posted an emotional message to Argentina's players and coaching staff on the eve of the 2026 World Cup final against Spain, as the defending champions look to retain their title.

Argentina reached the final with a 2-1 comeback win over England, while Spain beat France 2-0 to set up the title clash.

Messi inspired Argentina's semifinal fightback with two assists after England took an early lead.

Ahead of the final, the captain shared a team photo with players and coaching staff on social media.

“The best part of all these years wasn't just the titles, but the entire journey,” Messi wrote.

“Sharing every day with this group, competing together, getting back up in tough times, and enjoying every step. Thank you to each of my teammates, the coaching staff, and everyone who works every day to keep this national team a family.

“Whatever happens tomorrow, this group has already written a story we'll never forget and that no one can erase,” he added.

Messi ended the post with a rallying cry: "COME ON ARGENTINA."

Alongside winning his second consecutive World Cup title, the 39-year-old will also have the Golden Boot in sight after Kylian Mbappe moved ahead by scoring twice in the third-place playoff against England.

Messi already has eight goals in this World Cup, alongside four assists.
