Bangladesh Women’s Football League champions Rajshahi Stars FC dropped the curtain on their maiden AFC Women’s Champions League campaign with a thumping 8-0 win over Rovers FC of Guam in their third and final group-stage preliminary match in Malaysia on Sunday.
Tohura Khatun led the procession of goals with a hattrick while Shamsunnahar Junior netted a brace and Monika Chakma and Shamsunnahar Senior scored one goal each,
Marlena Connelley of Rovers scored an own goal.
But the win won’t be enough to take Rajshahi, formed mostly of players from the Bangladesh national women’s team – into the main stage of the competition following their defeats to India’s East Bengal (0-4) and Malaysia’s Sabah FC (1-2) in their first two matches.
