Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick praised incoming signing Gabriel Jesus as a top striker, admitting he had been surprised the club managed to complete a deal for the Brazilian, after his side beat Rayo Vallecano 5-2 at Camp Nou on Monday.
"I was a little surprised we had the opportunity to get him. I really love him, I like his style to play football, it fits with our style. I think he can help us a lot in the games," Flick said in his post match press conference.
Speaking separately to DAZN after the game, Flick reiterated his enthusiasm for the arrival.
"For me he's a top striker and of course for us very important, he can give us a lot of things and I'm very happy that he's here," he said.
Jesus, 29, arrived in Barcelona on Monday and watched the win from the stands, with his transfer from Arsenal, worth an initial €10 million, set to be finalised on Tuesday, September 1.
He is expected to sign a two year contract before being unveiled as the club's sixth summer signing.
Flick also credited sporting director Deco for driving the deal through. "For us, he can be an important player, so thanks to Deco because again he made an excellent job," he said, with Jesus joining a summer intake that already includes Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Rodri, Joao Cancelo and Dominik Livakovic.
Barcelona had spent much of the window pursuing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, only for their La Liga rivals to refuse to negotiate.
With the transfer window closing on Tuesday, Flick played down the chances of any further business before the deadline.
"I don't think so, but we will see," he said when asked if more arrivals were possible.
Raphinha has filled the void up front in Jesus' absence, netting twice against Rayo Vallecano to take his season tally to five goals, moving him ahead of Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe as La Liga's leading scorer.
Flick was quick to praise the Brazilian's response to being handed added responsibility. "He is a fantastic player, a world class player. Also becoming the captain is something very positive for him. At the moment, he shows exactly what we need from him," he said.
Monday's win was also notable for Lamine Yamal's first goals of the season, with the Spain international scoring a brace of well struck efforts either side of an own goal that made up Barcelona's other contribution, while both of Rayo's goals came from Sergio Camello.
Flick was full of praise for the teenager's development. "Lamine always wants to improve and he can improve. For me I am very happy with him. Today when he's doing what he's doing, how he's playing football, it's amazing to see. For me he's on an incredible level," he said.
Barcelona are next in action on Sunday, when they travel to face Valencia in their fourth league fixture of the campaign.
